Testing UM-Client

After installation, it is important to check that UM-Client communicates with the agent:

• First test the communication between the agent and the UPS

Important
In order to enable UM-Client to echo the messages, you must check that the administrator name contained in the file c:\upsman\umclient\umc_fadm is effectively the name used for your Windows 2000/XP system (default values are « administrator » for UM-Client english version and « administrateur » for UM-Client french version).

Tests:

• For the test purpose, you can start UM-Client in verbose mode and analyze the messages obtained.
• Another method, when possible, is to generate an event as a mains failure and obtain the following message (after a delay corresponding to « Grace period » parameter value) :
  

Don't forget to restore UPS main power as soon as you receive this message.
If this message is received, followed by the "UPS utility power restored" message then the protection is operating correctly.
